Excellence in your dresscode (part 1 of 6) 12/05/2012
Part 1 of 6 in series of Excellency in: Dress code, quiet time, time management, money, Evangelism, Attitude to work, school & university. 1) You are Gods temple so dress like it Ok my Dear so anyone that has made Jesus her Lord is saying that he is Lord over her life, job, money, home, lifestyle, attitude and dress code amongst a number of other things right? When God is your main man, you are accepting the treasured role as a royal priesthood of him as it points out in 1 Peter 2:9-10 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” So my sister what you need to understand from this perfect piece of scripture is that you are “God’s special possession” and that you are now part of his “wonderful light.” So dressing with too short skirts and too much cleavage is not cute and definitely not Godly. You tummy should not be on show when you go to church or anywhere else. Also wearing jeans that look like they are painted on may look cute on a music video but for a woman of God I would say that is a big no-no. In life you need to have balance, you need to look feminine and also a Godly woman but not overtly sexual so you look like you out on the rpowl for men, you are precious so make sure you outfits are an honour to God and his message that lives in you. Look cute for sure, but make sure your outfit is not talking louder that the message God has laid in your heart which is to share your faith daily. Have a good balance. Remember my dear you are in the world but you are not of this world. You here for a short time and you have a massive job to do which is outlined in Matthew 28:18-20 where you need to be making disciples. So your focus must be on getting people to Christ not only on how cute your outfit is. Now don’t get me wrong I don’t want you looking like slobs or manly, because you just moving to the extreme now showing the rebellion in your heart. I just want to advise you that you my dear that you are a special treasure to God and your dressing needs to reflect the precious gift of the holy spirit that Gods has allowed to indwell in you. You are special my sister so please make sure that your dressing is of a woman who is fit to be a Queen. You are special because God chose you to be his daughter, not your neighbour, your friend at the job or the girl at the shops, but you. You are Gods precious jewel and your dressing needs to reflect that you my dear are Gods temple as it points out in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies. You are Gods temple, so dress like it This scripture really inspires me and reminds me that I am holding the temple of God and it needs to look like it and that I am a priceless tool in Gods kingdom and that you dress code needs to truly honour the price Jesus paid with his life so that you can live. You also need to be modest in the way you present yourself as it says in 1 timothy 2:9-10 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. So let me explain this scripture, when you are out and about sharing your faith, encouraging people and being the fantastic woman of God. Those who you speak to should be concentrating on the inspiring message you are delivering and not how banging your nails are or the rocking pair of heels you got on. You go to church to meet God and not men, so the attention needs to be on the God in you rather then the cute skirt you got on. You should be radiant from the awesome quiet you had that morning not just from the blusher you puting on your checks. Sis get the balance right, your beauty must come from your inner beauty not only from how you dress as it says in this scripture in 1 Peter 3:3-5. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewellery or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. Now remember I agree that all women should look and feel great, but that must not be your loudest message, what you say should have more impact than that what you are wearing. Let your dressing reflect your heart for God and not your love for a great pair of jeans only. Just always remember when you get ready in the mornings. Is it suitable for where I am going, is it my size, is it good for the weather, can I bend in this outfit without showing the whole world my crown jewels. If any of these basic questions are a no then take it off and get something more appropriate on. 1) Just because it fits doesn’t mean it is Godly or good for you to wear my dear Be wise in what you put on daily, you my dear are God’s Ambassador for his message. Have you ever seen Diplomats and Ambassadors look scruffy when they are out and about in their sleek cars and shaking hands with foreign gentry looking a hot mess? No then neither should you because you serve a bigger king than a worldly Government you serve God and you need to dress like that daily. OK I know it is cool to have a casual day but this should not be you routine uniform of tracksuit and trainers, no matter how comfy they feel. So when I say be wise like in Proverbs 4:6 it states Just because it fits you doesn't mean you should wear it Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. Always make sure that the skirt you are wearing is not too short and tight even if you do have a great pair of legs, showing your outer beauty to win people is no longer your strongest tool, your heart is my sister. So something that you used to wear when you are 16 and now you are a woman in your 20’s and 30s will not cut it. . Too tight jeans, see through tops all have a place and it is not in church, crank for your husband at home on date night though my dear. I love this scripture Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. This scripture really encourages me and reminds me that we can look cute and pretty without having to look like a prono star. You are a princess and not the prostitute in Proverbs 7:10 then came out a woman to meet him dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent. Also my dear I am not saying look like a boring dull woman in bland colours and textures, I am just saying make sure that your inner beauty is banging and not just the blusher on your cheeks and that new bag. Don’t be extreme either in your dress code and start wearing a full on burka and a bed sheet, that’s not cute and will merely show the rebellion in your heart. Always seek advice on what you are wearing if you cannot bend, sit or stretch without showing the whole world your crown jewels, then please my dear do not wear it. Always be wise in what you wear, men sin with their eyes, so one look at your legs in a short skirt when communion is coming around can cause a brother to sin. Also for sisters, they sin in their hearts, so your dress code can cause jealousy in another sister who has body anxiety issues. Don’t look dull and boring look like the Queen that God died for you to be. Your awesome. It might be an idea to review your wardrobe today with a friend and ask them to help you review any items that I did might not really reflect you as the true Godly woman that you are. I had to get rid old raving tops, dress, friends and mindsets when I became a true disciple of Christ. It is actually very therapeutic and freeing. Try it and let me know how it went. In conclusion I just want to say always keep yourself and your sisters in check, be a great watchman as it states in Ezekiel 33:1-6. If you naturally gifted up top, then please wear a scarf that can guard your purity and prevent other from sinning if they got an eyeful of your cleavage. When you move around always check your clothes are still in place. You rock; I love you and please continue to be the Queens that Jesus died for you to be. How to stay uplifted when life knocks you down Some practical tips on how to stay positive during difficult times in life. Bad news often comes in the night time and will often be on your mind for the whole day right? Here are some useful tips that have helped me to stay positive during the difficult times that life throws at me.
Stay positive and remember you are still standing even when it all falls down. Love to hear what you think of the blog contact me on the details below. Email: info@soyaras.co.uk Web: www.soyaras.co.uk OK so I spent a gorgeous sunny Sunday afternoon in London at The Chocolate Festival at the Southbank Centre . I love all types of chocolate milk, white, mixed and dark…guess you could call me a Chocó-tart. I am just getting into the whole 70% and above pure coco chocolate line thing. This was an afternoon well spent, well I promise you I didn’t over indulge. Well you couldn’t really, because some of the Chocolatiers at the festival were acting really tight with the “free” samples and I use that term lightly. I kid you not, some of the stallholders were offering the free samples to the gifted and talented punters and then when they took it they would put the free sample tray back behind the banner/counter…nonsense. Totally different form ym experience at the Vitality show a few weeks ago where there were freesamples of tea, juices. Seed bars, health bars and more. But I must add they were not all tight there were two special and informed Chocolatiers, one was Olrtisoln du chocololt and the lovely team on the Hotel Chocolat stand . Now the lovely lady on Olrtisoln had some fabulous chocolate power balls that almost blew my head off…gorgeous if you have mega sweet tooth like me. Let me tell you the power balls are (on the web they are called sugar free milk truffle), take a note sugar free here. They are pure chocolate on the outside and the inside they are packed with liquid caramel. The taste is divine, they have a caramel and a passion fruit flavour too. I am a big chocoholic and I was satisfied after 2-3 balls and that is saying something . They were great at the Olrtisoln stand, gave me lots of information and loads of free samples, which it should be “try before you buy” in my book. The other informative stallholder offering free samples was the Hotel Chocolatier stand. They had such a wide range of products from cute little Easter eggs and the massive family size variety pack. The Hotel Chocolatier stand had chocolate from all over the world, Ecuador, Congo and St Lucia to name just a few. I learnt at this stand that the longer chocolate is churned for then the smoother and silkier the taste. Regular High street brands have their chocolate churning for 6-8 hours. Now the Hotel Chocolatier range has some products that are churned for 96 to 120 hours. Pop one in your mouth and it literally melts in your mouth. Divine! I also learnt so much about the benefits of chocolate . Did you know that pure chocolate can lower cholesterol, blood pressure and contains antioxidants. Let’s not get it twisted I love eating chocolate for the pleasure feeling it gives me, it acts as an anti-depressant and gives me a mini high. So, that’s the end of my Chocolate Festival review. I got to stop now because the chocolate I was eating in-between writing paragraphs has finished. My last word is to enjoy chocolate sensibly…so break that Galaxy in half my dear and give me some. Email: info@soyaras.co.uk Web: www.soyaras.co.uk Do not ignore your body (PART 2) Here is the second part of how to improve your health. Don't forget part one that was out last week if you need to catch up for great tips to have a better mind and body. Do something today that makes you smile 3) State of mind: Regardless of what you put into your mouth, if your mind is not right then no amount of food will make you feel better. We all know that chocolate and other pick me ups only have a short-term effect. Do something today that makes you smile, wear that new top that you were saving for “some big night” because today is for living. Make sure you schedule rest time into your day, so please, please, please make sure you give yourself 5 minutes in the morning just to focus on how you are feeling and what you want to accomplish today, this week, this year, this lifetime. Write down your dreams and passions if it helps. Have some "me time" sessions Catch up with your girls and always give yourself a weekly “me time” session. Me time could be anything from reading one of your favourite magazines, going for a walk, shopping or heading off to a spa for some well deserved TLC. We women work so hard every day and do not always get a thanks for all of our efforts, so sometimes we need to tell ourselves thanks through our own “me time” sessions. When you feel the stress of the day coming on, stop breath, think, if it helps write the problem down. Go away from the problem and then re-visit it if possible with a fresh mind full of ideas and solutions. Get a good night's sleep for a better day 4) Benefit of 7-8 hours Sleep every night: We women really do need our beauty sleep. Sleep is the time when are bodies recharge and rejuvenate. You know when you have not had enough sleep that you are ratty, rushing through the day and often when we are tired we eat more to get us through the day. Now I know this may be a difficult job when you have so many commitments and demands on your time like the children, the husband/partner and the over demanding boss. We work to live, not live for work remember. A quick tip, if you have young children, when you put them down for a nap, catch a few winks yourself, your motherly instinct will wake you up when your child needs you. You only have one life and why not go through looking beautiful and feeling great. You need to ensure you get a decent night’s sleep even on the weekends too; sleep will help you maintain your Goddess features. Those aches, pains, smells and discharges are just some of the ways your super body is trying to tell you that it needs help in certain areas. The body is a fantastic tool to self-repair and clean, but there are some conditions that need intervention. Ladies our bodies go through so much e.g. the menstrual cycle, childbirth and the menopause to name but a few. We have to get better at listening and seeing any changes in our body and providing the appropriate response. Whether that means changing behaviour, starting a new habit, stopping a bad one and seeing the doctor for that check-up we always seem too busy to attend or simply just by relaxing more. You only have one body in life so you must look after it and even though I know it sounds clichéd it will look after you too. Some steps to improve your health 1) Fit exercise into your life: Walking is free, easy and fun. Bring your best mate with you and make it a girl’s day out. Strap on those trainers and let me know how you get on. You can always squeeze in a bit of exercise every day. When you park your car to go shopping, park further way to squeeze in a 5-minute walk. Get off the bus or train a stop earlier when you are going to work to fit in a power walk that will get her heart pumping and your mind ready for a day at work. Take the stairs instead of the lift. Try it; trust me you will feel better for it. Invest in your health: Rather than buy that new dress that you have seen. Why not buy a pedometer that you can wear to track how many steps you take each day. When you use a pedometer you can set yourself daily targets of how many steps you want to take each day and slowly increase it and loose more calories. In addition, you can join a gym ; they always have some great membership deals at the beginning of the year. If the gym is not within your budget then you can buy some home gym equipment and do a 30-minute exercise routine in the comfort of your own home. Remember whatever you choose to do “moving is improving”. Make improving your health a priority. It is just as important as getting your hair done or your monthly leg wax and facial. Plan to be active and stick to it. You will love the results a good eating plan and scheduled exercise will give you. I look forward to seeing the new sleeker and healthier you "moving is improving”2) What you eat affects your health and lifestyle: Eat everything…in moderation. Prepare and carry a snack bag that will be your lifesaver when the munchies start. So the night before prepare some snacks like nuts, fruit, yoghurt, carrot sticks and your recommended 2 litres of water. If water is a bit bland for you, mix it with juice or a dilute drink. An alternative is to drink herbal tea; I am drinking cranberry and raspberry tea as I write this for you. Select the better food option: Now I love a bit of jerk chicken, jolof rice, fish & chips and the skin on the chicken, but we all know that this is not the best option. So instead, if I am going out for dinner I try to select the better option of grilled fish or skinless chicken that is baked but preferably not fried. Do not forget your plateful of salads and vegetables that will keep you full. If you cannot buy fresh vegetables, then the frozen option will be just as good. Eat Less Eat less: It sounds really simple but this really works to cutting the excess weight. When you go out to eat, choose a dessert but share it with your friend or take it home and have it the next day, so the calories are spread out. Trust me this really works; now I could eat a whole slice (no I am lying the whole cake) of sticky toffee pudding and custard all to myself, but it tastes so much better when you have shared it and the calories too with a friend. Now let us run away fast from the word diet and make sure that we are eating a range of foods to maintain and improve our health. Your daily food intake should consist of a mixture of fruit, vegetables, and good carbohydrates: whole barley Grapefruit, Turnip Apples oatmeal, wholemeal bread, couscous, prunes, Apricots, Zucchini, Oatmeal, lentils, nuts & seeds and proteins (meat, fish, eggs, beans). Loose weight and exercise at home.PS: This is part 1, check back next week for part two. Love to hear what you think of the blog and give me any great ideas to improve or you want others to hear. You are important Do you ever feel that you are stuck in a rut or too tired to even cry. This blog gives you tips to stay uplifted and inspired even through the difficult days. Me Time One day a month have a pyjama day, where you lounge around the house all day or at least for a long morning in your pyjamas, reading books , eating chocolates and just chilling. You work so hard so you need to relax and rest hard too. If that does not sound like your cup of tea then book yourself in for that massage or pedicure or catch up on that book you been promising yourself to read. An exhausted , tired and irritated woman is no good to anyone, so you owe it to yourself to relax and refresh yourself on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Running on empty only lasts so long and the tank will eventually break down unless you stop and refuel your engine. Have a pyjama Day ! |
